AGM 2000 - Firstly a big thank you to the brave souls who despite the fuel shortage and the growing congestion on the country's roads made it to the AGM on Monday 11th September at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, Cambridge. Unfortunately thirteen brave souls do not a quorum make and because of this the club has to spend money that could have been made better use of, on sending the membership a letter informing them of the new date of the AGM and reminding them that to hold an AGM a minimum of 20 members must attend. So this is that reminder, the next attempt at holding an AGM will take place at 8.00pm on Monday the 9th of October at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, Cambridge. The Cambridge Veterinary School is on the A1303 Madingley Road. Look for the sign "University West Cambridge Site and Veterinary School" (not Veterinary Investigation Centre). Turn off the Madingley Road and take the first right. The visitors car park is a little way down on the right. Enter the building by the Main Entrance, turn right down the corridor, then left at the end. The Senior Common Room is at the end of the corridor. Symposium - The symposium was not held on Sunday the 8th of October at the Queens Veterinary College Madingley. Apathy and lack of interest from the club members was the reason. (After sending out the last Cam Chat and arranging for information on the symposium to be placed in various magazines and on various web sites I was sitting back waiting for the postman to complain about the extra mail he had to deliver to the house). (But I shouldn't have been concerned as the two letters requesting a total of three tickets were hardly noticeable amongst all the junk mail from Readers Digest and the plethora of home improvement companies). (Unfortunately for the three people who have requested tickets, if sufficient tickets are not sold by Saturday the 30th of September to cover the considerable cost of organising an event such as this, the symposium will be cancelled and all costs incurred to date paid by the club).
Coach to the National - The coach has to be booked NOW and before I can book the coach I must receive a deposit of £5 per ticket before the end of September from at least 40 people. If I do not receive cheques there will be no coach to the National. The final cost of a ticket will be determined by the cost of the coach divided by the number of tickets purchased. No cheques will be cashed until the coach has been booked and the Club will be making a large donation towards the cost of the event. Send your cheques and a self addressed envelope to Marion Fisher Finally - The Club is for the members and the members make the club so don't let apathy
consume what has taken many years to achieve. |
